Where’s the Brain in Analytics
Claudia’s presentation focuses on data chaos and how companies are dealing with it today because their data is spread across multiple sources and locations. She will speak about solutions that can help organizations bring order to the data chaos and will present the concept of the extended data warehouse architecture and the "brain" needed to make it all work, the data catalog.
Understanding the Data Fabric Processes and Technologies
Data industry thought leader, visionary, and practitioner, Claudia Imhoff, Ph.D. presents her views on creating a successful Data Fabric. Beginning by defining what a data fabric is, along with its benefits. She walks the audience through the set of processes or capabilities needed to give the user a sane and rational way to access the environment, understand and create needed analytical assets, and the ability to quickly make decisions with confidence. Within each process, the technological functionality needed to create and maintain a fully functioning data fabric environment is discussed.
Mastering Data Warehouse Design
Claudia describes several types of data marts. The most popular data mart is built to support online analytical processing, and the most effective design approach for it is the dimensional data model. She explains the importance of relational modeling techniques, introduces the different types of models that are needed, and provides a process for building a relational data model. She also explains the relationship between the various data models used in constructing a solid foundation for any enterprise, the business, system, and technology data models, and how they share or inherit characteristics from each other.
Open-Source Data Warehousing: Pros and Cons
Getting the most out of an open-source data warehouse implementation is possible. Still, there are some hidden issues, let Claudia Imhoff help you work it out. Today, data warehousing is a popular approach and is frequently used as a business model. However, not every system is applicable to every business setting. So when thinking about implementing the strategy, one should consider the pros and cons of data warehousing. Open-source data warehouses possess the same options as any other type of open-source software: the same model of licensing, community development processes, and same degree of openness.
