Michael Andretti is one of the first "second-generation" open wheel race car drivers, he is the oldest son of racing legend Mario Andretti. Michael is CEO of Andretti Green Racing, a four-car team competing in the Indy Racing League IndyCar® Series.  As a team owner, he has won two back-to-back IndyCar championships with drivers Tony Kanaan (2004) and Dan Wheldon (2005), as well as an Indy 500 win (2005-Dan Wheldon).

Possessing one of the most impressive driving records in American racing history, Andretti put the cap on his second year of race team ownership in October 2004 by picking up the Indy Racing League® IndyCar® Series championship trophy during the annual awards ceremony on the Disney Wonder cruise ship. Just 32 races into his ownership career and stint as Andretti Green Racing s chief executive officer, Andretti who won 42 times in 309 starts as a driver — can already point to 10 victories as the boss.

Off the track, Michael has excelled as a businessman.   In addition to Andretti Green Racing , Michael owns a multitude of businesses including: Michael Andretti Powersports, four automobile dealerships (Andretti Toyota, Andretti Scion, Andretti Ford, & Andretti Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep), Andretti Indoor Karting and Games, a petroleum business, Andretti Global Development and two Quiznos restaurants.   In addition, Michael founded The Michael Andretti Foundation after his retirement from professional driving in May 2003.

Possessing one of the most impressive records in American racing history, Michael Andretti brings a veritable wealth of understanding of both the practical and theoretical aspects of the sport and the business of motor racing.   Michael has been one of the most dominant drivers over his twenty years of active competition in the IRL and CART series.   Michael has won more races, more poles, and led more laps than any other active CART Champ car driver.   Michael has raced in the illustrious 24 Hours of LeMans and has competed in Formula One, International Race of Champions (IROC), International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) and Sports Car Club of America (SCCA).   Michael retired from professional driving following the 87th running of the Indianapolis 500 on May 25, 2003, in order to focus his energy as the owner of Andretti Green Racing.
