Olympic Gold Medalist & World Cup Champion
Lindsey Vonn is an alpine ski racer for the U.S. Ski Team and a New York Times bestselling author. She holds four World Cup overall championships, won in 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2012. Vonn’s prowess extends to winning the gold medal in downhill at the 2010 Winter Olympics, making her one of the six women to have won World Cup races in all five disciplines of alpine skiing. Vonn has a record of eight World Cup season titles in downhill, five titles in super-G, and three consecutive titles in the combined. Her accomplishments also include winning the 20th World Cup crystal globe title in 2016, setting a record for the most globe titles held by any skier. In addition to her titles, she has garnered 82 World Cup victories, a women’s record held until January 2023.
Honors and Awards
In 2011, Vonn received the Laureus World Sportswoman of the Year award and the United States Olympic Committee’s Sportswoman of the Year award. After announcing her retirement in 2019, she made a significant return to competitive skiing in November 2024. In 2025, she became the oldest female Alpine skier to make the podium of a World Cup race, placing second.

During her hiatus, she served as a correspondent for NBC News during the 2014 Winter Olympics, and later as an NBC Sports broadcast analyst, debuting at the 2021 Alpine Skiing World Cup Races.
Media
Vonn has also pursued academic interests, participating in Harvard Business School’s “The Business of Entertainment, Media, and Sports” program. In 2020, she hosted the canine reality competition series “The Pack” on Amazon Prime Video. Additionally, Vonn has appeared in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition multiple times and competed in a rap battle on the show “Drop the Mic” in May 2018.
Books
Aside from her sporting career, Vonn has penned books including Strong Is the New Beautiful in 2016 and Rise: My Story in 2022. She is part of the ownership group for Angel City FC, a team in the National Women’s Soccer League that began play in 2022. The HBO documentary “Lindsey Vonn: The Final Season,” released in 2019, covers her final World Championship season.

Vonn is also the founder of the Lindsey Vonn Foundation, an initiative established to empower young girls. She splits her time between Park City, Utah and Los Angeles, California.

She has launched several initiatives to help people hard-hit by Covid and the accompanying economic recession. To support those out of work or transitioning from college to the workforce, Vonn launched "Lindsey Vonn's Virtual Career Day" which brought together young scholarship winners from the Lindsey Vonn Foundation with an expert in their intended field. She also participated in the One World: Together at Home, which was a global effort designed to fight the spread of COVID-19.
