Janet Evans recieved rave reviews as this year’s guest speaker for the 3rd Annual Alabama Sports and Adventure Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, an invitation-only event held last Thursday at the Dothan Civic Center. An Olympic gold medalist, Janet Evans’s achievements include: winner of 4 gold and 1 silver Olympic medals, winner of 45 U.S. National Titles, and winner of 5 World Championship Titles. Her three world records in her specialty events stood for 19, 20, and 21 years, respectively. Her 800 meter record, which she first broke in 1987, was finally broken in 2008, making it the longest swimming world record in history.
