The Nation’s Most Famous Woman Lawyer in Private Practice

Gloria Allred is the most famous woman attorney practicing law in the nation today, a tireless and successful advocate whose high-profile legal battles on behalf of victims whose rights have been violated have led to many landmark precedent-setting court decisions and hundreds of millions of dollars which she has won for her clients.

High-Profile Attorney

When a high-profile legal case hits the airwaves, we have become accustomed to seeing Allred in some key role as attorney or commentator. This nationally recognized advocate has built her pioneering career on much more than O.J. Simpson and Amber Frey. As a tireless crusader against discrimination in all areas of our lives, Allred’s legal reach has been wide and long. For the past three decades she has played an integral role in combating injustices and winning new rights, especially for women and minorities.

Family Rights Advocate

Voted by her peers as one of the best lawyers in America and described by Time magazine as “one of the nation’s most effective advocates of family rights and feminist causes,” she has devoted her career to fighting for civil rights across boundaries of gender, race, age, sexual orientation, and social class.

Founding Partner

Allred is a founding partner of Allred, Maroko & Goldberg, one of the pre-eminent employment law firms in the country, which has won national prominence through many precedent-setting cases over the course of more than 30 years. She has played a role in many groundbreaking legal decisions that have forever changed our lives for the better.

Book

In her book, Fight Back and Win: My Thirty-Year Fight Against Injustice–And How You Can Win Your Own Battles, Allred shares empowering life lessons learned from her career fighting on the front lines for victim’s rights. From her vast and exciting experiences inside and outside the courtroom, she demonstrates again and again how to win change and become empowered to fight for justice at home, at work, and in every aspect of life.

Education

Allred earned her B.A. with honors in English from the University of Pennsylvania. She earned her M.A. from New York University and her J.D. cum laude from Loyola University School of Law in Los Angeles. She was also awarded an Honorary J.D. from the University of West Los Angeles School of Law. In addition to being an attorney, Allred has held California life credentials in secondary school education and supervision. She taught in public schools for six and a half years and was also a lecturer at the University of Southern California for several years.

Awards

Allred is a three-time Emmy nominee for her commentaries on KABC television in Los Angeles and she was selected as one of the most important radio talk show hosts in America by USA Today. She has won the presidential award from the National Association of Women Lawyers and the President’s Award for Outstanding Volunteerism, presented to her by President Ronald Reagan at the White House. She has been voted by her peers as one of the best lawyers in America. In 2001, she received the Judy Jarvis Memorial Award from the National Association of Radio Talk Show Hosts for her outstanding contributions to talk radio. Los Angeles magazine has named her “One of the 30 Most Powerful People in Los Angeles” and “One of the 50 Most Interesting People in Los Angeles.”

"She is a powerful speaker, exactly what we were looking for; we were absolutely thrilled to have Gloria!!! She spoke very passionately and the women really responded. Gloria Allred was also a very lovely person, in addition to being a wonderful speaker, which is always a bonus!!! I would recommend any Jewish community using her for any of their women’s programs."

"Last night was one of the highest attended Speaker Series events we have had since we started four years ago... [W]e had 270 people who were riveted to their seats and listening carefully to every word Gloria said. She was very thorough in covering the cases she has won and also provided insightful and motivating stories that the audience was inspired by. She is also a very funny person, which was a pleasant addition to the many heavy subjects covered. Her willingness to stay and speak to people, take photos and shake hands was also wonderful and shows how approachable she is as a person. We heard nothing but praise and positive comments from audience members and the two City Councilmembers who could attend were incredibly pleased with the evening....Many thanks to you and everyone that worked on making this happen, it was truly a highlight in the community of Malibu."
